Voluntary Water Usage Reductions Continue as Extreme Temperatures Expected
Friday, June 25, 2021

With the high temperatures that are expected through this weekend and next, Medford Water Commission would like to remind our customers of the voluntary water reductions in place as we work through a nationwide chlorine shortage. Suppliers are reestablishing production activities, but it may be some time before water utilities like ours are receiving routine deliveries again.

We are monitoring the situation daily, and want to thank you for being mindful of your water usage thus far. Water demand reductions are helping to further extend our limited supply to an extent, and to maintain this trend throughout the extreme conditions expected, we ask you to continue to voluntarily reduce non-essential water use and eliminate water waste. See the full list of voluntary actions you can take, here.

This request applies to Medford water customers, as well as to properties within Central Point, Eagle Point, Phoenix, Talent, Jacksonville, and White City.

In addition to these voluntary reductions, use of the two bulk water filling stations in Jackson County has been restricted to domestic use only. Use of water from these stations for agricultural purposes is not permitted. Information regarding resources for water for agricultural purposes is available from the Jackson County Watermaster’s office at (541) 774-6880. This restriction still allows for users that require water from these stations for their daily domestic needs.

The water we provide remains safe to drink, and as the Rogue Valley’s trusted municipal water provider, it is our responsibility to protect the municipal water supply for our customers. All measures will remain in place until water demand levels come down and the chain of supply has been reestablished. If demand continues to remain at high levels or increases, mandatory restrictions may be imposed on water usage inside and outside homes/business as well.

Please contact our Customer Service Department at (541) 774-2430 for more information. For an after-hours emergency with your water service, call (541) 779-7611.
