Winterize Now to Avoid Costly Damage Later

A Few Easy Steps Can Prevent Expensive Repairs

The weather has cooled and landscapes in our region do not need year-round irrigation. To prevent damaging from freezing, winterize your sprinkler system and homes now, before freezing weather hits.

Why Winterize Your Sprinkler System?
Frozen water expands, which can crack pipes, damage valves, and ruin sprinkler heads, leading to costly repairs in the spring. Water from your system that has frozen on sidewalks can also lead to slip and fall injuries.

For tips on winterizing inside and outside your home, use the checklist at right or go to our Winterization page for more.

Tip: Don’t forget to learn where your water shut off valve is in case you need to turn off your water supply off due to a broken pipe or other emergency at your home. Locate your water meter at the property line either in front of or behind your residence in a concrete box; your shut off valve will be in the box next to the meter. For help, go to our Meter page.
