Traffic Impacts on East Main Due to Waterline Work November 2–20, 2026

Traffic on East Main Street between Eastwood Drive and South Keene Way Drive will be impacted intermittently November 2–20, 2026, as Medford Water and contractor Pilot Rock Excavation constructs a new water main. A 12″ 1909-era water main in East Main was discovered to be leaking between Eastwood Drive and South Keene Way Drive where it passes through a small city parklet, but repairing the damaged section was determined to be impractical due to the presence of a large sequoia tree that had grown directly above the main in the decades since it was originally installed.

To avoid removing the sequoia tree, Medford Water staff designed a new main approximately 400 feet in length to bypass and replace the section of leaking water line; this alignment will both preserve the sequoia tree and relocate the portion of main currently within the parklet to within the East Main Street roadway.

Expect the road to be closed to all through traffic with a detour available; travelers should expect delays associated with this work and are advised to seek alternate routes and parking. We appreciate your patience and cooperation in keeping work zones safe. Work schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions and other factors.
