New Water Supply Outlook Webpage Launched

With the recent news about the Governor’s drought declaration for Jackson County, many residents throughout our communities are likely to wonder how this impacts them.
To keep our customers informed about water supply conditions and drought, Medford Water has launched a Water Supply Outlook webpage. Located at medfordwater.org/watersupply, the page features information on our water supply production and demand, regional water conditions, water supply FAQs, and what customers can do to use our resources wisely. It will be updated regularly as conditions change throughout the summer season so that customers know what to expect.

Our principal source of water is Big Butte Springs, located about 30 miles northeast of Medford. Our secondary source comes from the Rogue River and is treated at the Robert A. Duff Water Treatment Plant near TouVelle Park.
These two sources provide drinking water to the communities of Medford, White City, Elk City Water District, and our Partner Cities of Eagle Point, Central Point, Jacksonville, Phoenix, Talent, and Ashland. Typical water use averages 45 million gallons per day in the summer.
Our ability to supply water from two different sources helps to not only maintain reliability, but also redundancy if one source were to diminish. Efficient management of these sources helps us to continue serving our community when dry conditions develop.
Despite the drought conditions in our county, Medford Water’s sources are supplying a sufficient amount of water to support the water needs of all our communities. Careful monitoring of these supplies will continue, and updates will be posted to the website if conditions change.
Our water resources are precious, and we should all be mindful of how we are using our water this year. We encourage our customers to be good stewards of our water supplies and avoid wasting water. Any customers interested in understanding how much water they use and how to be most efficient are encouraged to reach out to us at 541-774-2430 or go to the Water Efficiency tab of our website to participate in the many programs we offer to help reduce unnecessary water use.
