Happy birthday to us!

Medford Water is an autonomous agency of the City of Medford, Oregon, established through a change in the city charter on November 7, 1922, and is governed by the Board of Water Commissioners.
In 1925, the sale of $975,000 in bonds was approved to develop the pristine Big Butte Springs water supply and build a pipeline to town. With a current value of around $100 million from an estimated 1925 population of only 12,000 people, this commitment by Medford citizens—incurring and paying off a large debt to build a safe and sufficient water supply—continues to benefit our residents today.
We maintain that forward-thinking in preparing to serve our customers for the next century. This includes the construction of resilient facilities, replacing aging infrastructure, and improvements in the facilities that store, treat and transport water to our almost 150,000 customers. An example of this work can be seen in the completion of our $78M Water Treatment Plant Expansion Project in October 2025 that increased the plant’s capacity to produce drinking water from 45 to 65 million gallons per day.
