Scare Off Water Waste – Time to Say BOO to Watering!
- October 19, 2026 | Category: Water Efficiency

Spooky season is here; the weather has cooled and the rains will pick up soon.
It is no longer necessary to water regularly in our area, and we have suspended our weekly water efficiency tips and lawn watering recommendations until the 2027 season.
Scare off water waste and shut your irrigation system off for the year. We also recommend winterizing your system as water left in sprinkler lines can lead to a nightmare of cracked pipes and repairs next spring. Don’t let costly damages haunt your wallet—Tips on winterizing can be found on our website at medfordwater.org/winterizing, or reach out to a local landscape contractor for help.
While our free sprinkler surveys are also suspended for the winter, our Water Efficiency Team does do Indoor Efficiency Surveys to analyze indoor usage during the fall and winter months. Our weekly tips along with our weekly watering recommendations based on the local weather forecast will resume in 2027 at medfordwater.org/infoline.
