A Thank You to Our Customers from the Board of Water Commissioners

We sincerely thank our customers for their patience and cooperation during the temporary water restrictions earlier this week. Your quick response and cooperation made a real difference in our ability to manage this emergency.

Big Butte Springs, our primary water source, reliably provides enough supply during the winter months. When outdoor irrigation significantly increases demand in the summer, the Robert A. Duff Water Treatment Plant supplements that supply. Earlier this week, an unexpected failure in our conductors feeding the plant’s Rogue River intake pumps disrupted both the primary power source and the on-site generators. Throughout the incident, water quality was never compromised, and the drinking water we provided remained safe.

We understand that curtailing outdoor water use can be inconvenient, and many customers worried about their landscapes. We take our commitment to being the Rogue Valley’s trusted municipal water supplier very seriously, and these restrictions were a necessary precaution to protect the essential drinking and fire protection water supply for the approximately 150,000 people we serve.

Most importantly, it was your assistance that helped us to accomplish this. Thank you again for your understanding, patience, and support. Together, we successfully safeguarded our community’s water supply.
