State of Oregon and City of Medford declare July to be Smart Irrigation Month
July is typically the hottest month of the year, requiring the most water for agricultural and landscape needs. With this in mind, the Irrigation Association has created a campaign declaring July as Smart Irrigation Month, in an effort to draw attention to outdoor water-wise practices.
In support of this campaign, Medford Water Commission (MWC) and Southern Oregon Landscape Association (SOLA) have obtained proclamations from State of Oregon Governor Kate Brown and City of Medford Mayor Gary Wheeler declaring July 2018 as Smart Irrigation Month.
Irrigation efficiency can be as simple as the proper adjustment of sprinklers or updates to older systems with newer technology in sprinklers and control systems. MWC, along with various other water utilities, offer free evaluations of sprinkler systems and rebates for Smart Irrigation Controllers. There is also information on our website about saving water.
A July meeting of SOLA later this month will focus on the theme of Smart Irrigation. If you are interested, you can find more about the meeting at the SOLA Facebook page.
