Watershed Councils
Watershed Councils Commission staff is actively involved with the two watershed councils that cover this watershed. They are the Upper Rogue Watershed Association and the Little Butte Watershed Council. The councils are public organizations that provide a framework for coordination and communication of watershed health issues. The councils are composed of a balanced representation of various interests or stakeholders in the watershed. The Medford Water Commission provides financial support to both councils.
Upper Rogue Watershed Association covers the entire upper watershed to the headwaters minus Little Butte Creek watershed. The total area is about 800,000 acres and includes mostly publicly managed timberlands. Shady Cove, Butte Falls and Prospect are the only towns and/or cities located within the watershed. The URWA meets monthly on the third Monday at 6:00 pm at the Shady Cove Community Center.
Little Butte Watershed Council covers the Little Butte Creek watershed, which is about 250,000 acres. The headwaters are composed primarily of publicly managed timberlands and agriculture. Rural residential lands dominate the lower elevations. The council meets monthly on the 4th Wednesday at Eagle Point School District Office Meeting room, 11 N. Royal, Eagle Point.
