Tour planned for June, 2016 - September, 2016 tour canceled
Please Note: The public tour of Big Butte Springs and the Robert A. Duff Water Treatment Plant scheduled for Thursday, September 13, 2016 has been canceled. The Medford Water Commission is now taking reservations for two public tours of the Big Butte Springs and the Robert A. Duff Water Treatment Plant. The tours are planned for Thursday, June 23 and Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016.
The tours are free and take a full day, with departure from Medford at 9 a.m. and return around 4:30 p.m. Transportation is provided via an air conditioned coach-style bus, and attendance is limited to seating on the bus. Time to eat lunch is scheduled at the Big Butte Springs; participants should provide their own food and beverages.
Participants can learn about Medford’s watershed and source waters, the Big Butte Springs and the Rogue River, as well as the water treatment process and history of the Medford Water Commission.
The tours generally include stops at Whiskey Springs, Willow Lake, the Big Butte Springs and the Duff Water Treatment Plant. The complete tour involves a moderate amount of walking. However, those with physical limitations can forego portions of the tour and participate in other parts.
