Medford Water Commission - Medford Utility Bill gets a new look

Beginning in February, the Medford Utility Bill and the envelopes it arrives in will have a different appearance. This is a second step in an effort that began a few years ago to make the bill more understandable for our customers. Under earlier revisions, specific charges were better identified, and additional contact information was provided. However, our ability to fully accomplish intended objectives was hampered by the small size of the bill. Actions have since been undertaken that now enable us to expand the bill to a full sized page. With this opportunity, we have made additional modifications to billing statements, aimed at making them easier to read and providing additional information for our customers.

With the redesigned bill, specific charges are more clearly identified, and information is provided relative to charges and payment options. The front of the new bill form includes much of the same information as before, but is less crowded and easier to read. Additionally, a graph has been added that will illustrate water usage over the last thirteen months. This can help customers identify changes in usage patterns that could indicate leaks or other problems.

The back of the bill includes further changes, with far more information provided than in the past. This includes a map showing the location of the Medford Water Commission office, and hours during which office staff is present. Other contact information, including phone numbers and Web addresses for the Water Commission and City of Medford are also found there. Additionally, descriptions are provided relative to specific charges typically included in monthly utility bills, along with answers to other frequently asked questions. A form to sign up for automatic payments is also incorporated on the back of the bill.
