PUBLIC NOTICE: Proposed Exemption from Competitive Bidding for Filter Turbidimeters
Medford Water Commission will consider an exemption from competitive solicitation, pursuant to the Commission’s Contracting and Purchasing Regulations, Section 2.32(21) – Special Procurements, Single Manufacturer or Compatible Product, at the regularly-scheduled board meeting on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at 12:30 pm.
The Board of Water Commissioners will consider exempting the following materials, limited by manufacturer and product:
- Filter Turbidimeters shall be limited to the Hach FilterTrak 660.
Findings in support of the exemption consist of the following:
- The product combines two instruments, turbidimeter and particle counter, saving costs associated with purchasing and maintaining two separate instruments; and
- The product offers efficient utilization and compatibility with other Hach instrumentation at the Robert A. Duff Water Treatment Plant; and
- Hach instruments have a proven track record in accuracy and reliability; and
- The costs associated with competitive bidding would be saved; and
- It is unlikely that the exemption will encourage favoritism or substantially diminish competition for materials purchases; cost savings are expected and the exemptions are otherwise in the public interest. All interested parties are encouraged to attend the meeting.
